Professional Online Resume
Well it took a little while to get right, but I finally have a strong, effective, professional resume available online on my site. Although it does not follow the traditional resume standards, it does highlight what I feel to be important, while leaving out all the other junk that nobody is really going to pay attention to. The purpose of this is to make it easy for anybody to see exactly what my skill set and experience is, without any distractions.

New site updates (April)
Anybody who has been browsing my site recently has probably noticed the constant change in graphics and functionality. This is because I have been experimenting and fine tuning many aspects of my site. I plan on doing some freelance work this summer, so I figure that I had better make everything here as user friendly as possible. Updates span from flashy jquery scripts to entirely reformatted code. I changed around my featured items as well.

I'm makin' bank!
I'm very excited to announce that I have recently been hired part time as a customer service representative/back end web developer for central mass web design! Here I work closely with an experienced team of graphic designers and web programmers to solve web solutions for numerous clients across the country. A little bit about cmwd. They are a local and respectable web design firm with an excellent track record and expertise in the industry. They provide competitive rates for professional web sites, and with such reliable customer service (me!), they just can't be beat.

A little something I've been working on...
Well as it just so happens I have begun to get sick of this theme already, and only after a few months! So I started work on something a little bit different, something more user friendly, something with style. So I began work on my new theme which I dubbed "Project X". I sort of went with the xbox 360 design style, and I personally thought everything was looking pretty good. But about halfway through the implementation of the site, I realized that I simply do not have the JS capabilities to fully complete the content scroller on the homepage. I could have easily have pulled it off if I was simply sliding images, but with the text and links sliding as well, I ran into difficulties. As you may notice there are many bugs with the theme and the widget in particular. For one thing I'm not even sure how it looks on any other resolution than on my own monitor, or for that matter any browsers other than FF and Chrome. So for the time being I'm postponing this project until I find an adequate content slider to do what I need it to do.

New Site Theme Launched!
So at long last, I have a new theme for mjrportfolio.com, my online portfolio and digital playground. The design is simple, and at the moment sort of bland, but I am adding onto it everyday to try and spice it up with some color. But the true genius behind this new theme is not the graphics, but the code that I have been developing for it for the past 4 months. There are no more bugs (that I know of)! But best of all, I have hooked up the site with a modx content management system, which means no more notepad.

The Mansion dvd cover
In my digital imaging (photoshop) class, the first project of the semester was a choice between creating a dvd cover, a candy bar wrapper, or (for some reason) a photo montage of the Quabbin Reservoire. I chose to create a dvd cover, because it's alot more fun, and in the end I knew that it would actually look cool. So for my dvd cover, I created a fictional mystery film called "The Mansion". On my cover I feature a foggy, moonlit forest with a strange mansion in a clearing ahead of the path. In the foreground of the piece is a blurry, mysteryious man walking down the path. It took me probably about a week on and off to finish the cover, and overall I think it is an effective piece.
