3/2-5/09 6 I was absent from school from Monday until Friday because I came down with a really bad case of strep throat and the medication wasn't working, however I was able to sketch out a new layout for my portfolio as well as write up this xhtml document for my logs. Home

3/7/09 3 I purchased web hosting from host monster and worked on getting as much of my work online as I could. Home

3/11/09 1.6 I didn't feel so good today, but I began to take notes on chapter 7, which is on forms. This is a very long chapter and it will take me awhile to finish these notes. Library

3/16/09 4 I coded my notse on chapter 7, which took me a long time to do because they were fairly complicated compared to my other notes. Then I updated my webpage to include new links. Library and Home
3/17/09 2 I mostly spent my time fixing some errors and updating my pages for consistency, which will be much easier once I become more efficient with css in chapter 8. Library and Home
3/18/09 1 Today was a half day, and I started to take notes on chapter 8 on cascading style sheets. Library
3/19/09 2.2 I continued to take notes on chapter 8 for the entire block, and even did some research after school on CSS. Library and Home
3/20/09 4 I completed my notes on chapter 8 in the library today. Then at home I coded my chapter 8 notes, and created various external style sheets to make my web pages more consistent. I also published my source code for my notes. Library and Home
3/22/09 3.5 Today I began to take notes on chapter 9- javascript. Then when I got home I decided to try and create a web page using what I have learned so far. SO I created a web page to represent web 2.0, and started a whole new section of my ind. study. Library and Home
3/23/09 5 Today I continued to read chapter 9 in the library. Then when I got home I created another web page. This time I created a web page to represent grunge, and I also created a 2nd page for my ind. study. Library and Home

3/28-31/09 9 I used w3schools.com for the rest of the week, going through the tutorials and experimenting with javascript until I felt confortable enough with it to write my own code. Library and home
4/1/09 2 I began to write my code for my chapter 9 notes today in the library, and I am having some issues getting my javascript to work as I want it to. Library and home
4/2/09 5 There was a typo in my code that I found and fixed, and I spent alot of time finishing coding my notes and then updating all of my other pages to include javascript. When I got home I updated my website. Library and home

4/9-10/09 6.5 While experimenting with tables in html, I discovered the technique of overlaying tables. So for much of the night I designed and worked on my simple web layout. Library and home
4/12/09 2 I began to code up my chapter 10 notes and was sidetracked when I began to research uses for popups in javascript for much of the block. Library
4/13/09 3.5 I finished coding up my notes on chapter 10, but I still have some errors and inconsistency in the page. Library and home
4/14/09 3 I fixed my chapter 10 notes and also added content to them, when I got home I published the notes and updated some of my previous notes for spelling. Library and home
4/15/09 2 I began the block by researching more uses for javascript and I came upon something called Jquery. I then learned about the newest techniques in web technology and I hope that I can begin to learn Jquery and Ajax sometime soon. Library
4/16/09 1.6 I continued my research on web scripting techniques and learned some useful stuff about the history of programming and web scripting along with other technologies. Library
4/17/09 3 I spent about another 30 min. researching various scripting techniques with javascript and came across some built in functions such as onMouseover and onMouseout which I played around with for the block. Then I updated some of my notes and previous webpages to include these functions. Library and home
4/17-22/09 12 I am meeting with a college representative on thursday, and I would like to have a professional looking web layout to show if I am asked for an example of what I have done. So I spent many frustrating hours of my vacation drafting, designing, photoshopping, developing, and coding, and fixing up my Design Hub web layout. After all the work I put into it, I was pretty satisfied with the result because of how clean the final solution turned out. Home
4/18/09 2 I spent the block fixing up my Design Hub web layout for consistency in all web browsers and readability within the source code. Library
4/19/09 3 I began to read chapter 11 from my book on the Document Object Model. I am finding this chapter to be very interesting, and I can already see how useful many of its techniques are in web design. Library and home
4/22/09 2 I finished reading chapter 11 from my book and began to take down the notes from the chapter in my notebook and on the computer. Library
4/23/09 2 I continued to code up my notes from chapter 11. I hope to have these done by friday, however the content of chapter 11 is much more advanced and will take a little while for me to fully comprehend and apply examples to my notes. Library
4/24/09 1.6 I spent the period looking into a new web scripting language known as ruby on rails, and also on a web api known as wordpress. Library
4/27/09 2 I finished coding up my chapter 11 notes, but for whatever reason my screen tip examples are not working at all. Library
4/28/09 2.5 I spent a frusterating 2 and a half hours trying to figure out why my screen tips won't work. I've tried validating all my code, and checking it with the book. Everything looks good but it still doesn't work. Library and home
4/29/09 1.6 Once again I spent the whole block trying to figure out why my screen tips won't display, with no luck in the end. Library
4/30/09 2.5 I figured it will be good to take a break from this little issue with my screen tips and begin work on a new web template. Library and Home
5/1/09 2.2 I spent another hour trying to get my screen tips to work and decided that I need to move on and forget about it. So I am publishing my chapter 11 notes as they are. I also added up all my hours in my logs when I got home and updated my website. Library and Home
5/4/09 2 I began to read chapter 12. Chapter 12 is very long but it appears from the outside as rather basic because I already feel as if I have a good understanding of xml databasing. Library
5/5/09 2 I finished reading chapter 12 and I feel that I understand the concept very well. I also began to take down notes in my notebook from chapter 12. Library
5/6/09 1.8 I finished off my notes on chapter 12 almost right away, but as soon as I had them finished I went on a computer and spent the rest of the block looking at various web templates and tutorials. Library
5/7/09 1.8 I now have the main body of my chapter 12 web notes completed. I spent the rest of the block viewing web templates and designs. Library
5/8/09 2.4 My chapter 12 notes are now complete and I am updating many of my pages for consistency and updating my website. I am also updating my logs. Library and Home
5/11/09 2 When I got into school today, and looked at my chapter 12 notes, I felt that they weren't enough to demonstrate what I had learned in chapter 12. So I began to create an external movie database and style it with xsl. Library
5/12/09 2 After completing my movie database and styling it with xsl, I noticed that it didn't display entirely right in my browser. So I actually ended up spending about a half hour trying to figure out what was wrong only to discover that I had mispelt the word "transform" in one of my xsl tags. Library
5/13/09 2.5 Now that my database was complete and working, I began to format it better with css and xsl in order to display as I wanted in the browser. I spent about another 30 min. checking out web templates on the internet again. Library and Home
5/14/09 2.5 I decided that an external database was not enough as well, so I figured out how to implement the database into an html datatable and display the information there. However after completing the datatable, I realized that it would only work with internet explorer. To this point I still have no idea why. Library and Home
5/15/09 .5 I was absent from school today, however at home I spent about a half hour begining my first assesment paper. Home
5/18/09 0 Today I went on a fieldtrip with my web design I class to Tank designs. I did not do any work for my independent study and I will not credit myself any hours, however I do feel that the fieldtrip is related. Tank Designs
5/19/09 2.5 Today I completed my first assesment paper and published it on my web site. I also updated my independent study logs and spent some time fixing some minor stuff in my indpendent study pages. Library
5/20/09 1.6 At first I re-read over my assessment paper and made some changes to it. Then I spent the rest of the time in the library looking at my home web template and figuring out in my head how I am going to apply it and make it work. I've decided on a few crucial changes. Library
5/21/09 2.4 I met with Mr. Sargent for the first 20 min. of the day to discuss my possible independent study options for next year. After this I went down to the business lab to open up my final home layout in photoshop. I began to mess around with alot of things because now I have more of an understanding of how to design graphics for the web to make them easy to work with. Business Lab
5/22/09 3 Today I first met with Mr. Sargent for 10 min. and then went downstairs to work on my template some more. I stayed after school to continue work on it. I finalized it around 3:00 pm today and then shot up to Mr. Szalay to look it over with him. Business Lab
5/25/09 .5 Memorial Day- I spent a little bit of time messing around with the Jquery lightbox plugin to see what it's is capable of. I found it very interesting and I hope to use it in some of my future sites. Home
5/26/09 1.5 I began to code up my final homepage. I'm having some bugs with the background and the main table, but hopefully it will be a quick fix. Business Lab
5/27/09 2 The table was a very quick fix, I forgot to add a colspan attribute to one of my table cells. But I was able to get most of the main body of my site functioning. Business Lab
5/28/09 3 Today I optimized my files for the web and made sure everything was where it should be and launched what I have so far for my homepage. It's not complete yet but there is enough on it for publication. Later today I updated many of my links and these logs. Business Lab and Home

6/1/09 2 I spent some time looking into more advanced css techniques. Also I added a next page function to my notes. Business Lab

6/18/09 1.6 Today I was browsing the internet and came across the new css rule for rounded corners. So I ended up playing around with this feature for most of the block. Library
